How I Lost $50K On A Bad Deal

Ever make a business decision so bad it keeps you up at night?

Questioning your own judgment?

Back in 2012, I jumped head-first into what seemed like the next big thing – a unique traffic platform.

Software was out of my wheel house at the time, but I didn't want to miss out on this opporunity.

Found this "brilliant" guy who was offering to launch it for me. His pitch was perfect. The demo looked amazing. The potential seemed unlimited.

So, I sent the deposit via wire.

$50,000.

Imagine if I bought Bitcoin back then when it was like $13. lol

Instead, you know what I got for my money?

Nothing. Nada. Zip.

Turns out this guy used my money to fund his own startup doing the same thing. The platform I paid for? He launched it for himself.

I spent months chasing him online. Sending emails. Making calls. Posting warnings.

He just blocked me.

I was wasting good energy on a bad situation.

Every hour I spent trying to "get even" or recover my loss was another hour I wasn't spending building my current business.

I know people don’t like to talk admit it, but sometimes in business just take an L.

And the difference between successful entrepreneurs and struggling ones isn't that they never lose...

It's how fast they move on from those losses.

That $50k was an expensive lesson but is probably the best money I ever lost.

It taught me to trust my gut, do more research, and know when to take the L and move on.

Dose of The Week

I didn't start my own business to become a slave to it. I started it for freedom. And real freedom means choosing WHEN you work, not just WHERE you work.
