Billions Spent Yearly On Owned Audiences

I have spent over $100M on paid ads for myself and my clients over the years.  Probably 92% of that was for clients, since I had an agency for almost 10 years.  

It’s really small potatoes when you think about it.

In 2023, US advertisers spent $58.11 billion on Facebook ads, up 15.5% YoY.

YouTube Generated $28.8 Billion in Ad Revenue in 2023.

In 2023, TikTok’s annual revenue from ads registered at $9.9 billion, a whopping 155% yearly increase.

Twitter generated $4.4 billion revenue in 2023 and 90% of Twitter’s revenue came from advertising in 2023.

Advertising accounts for the majority of Google's revenue, which amounted to a total of 279.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2023.

The companies (my clients included) are willing to spend money every single month with them because they had to if they wanted to get new clients.

I started to wonder…

“What if I owned the audience just like those Big Companies?”

It had to be possible to get just a sliver of the PIE.

I was thinking about making Billions. I was simply looking to replace my income from my million dollar agency, because I was burnt out.

The challenge was if your audience is on Google, YouTube, Meta, etc you would always be paying them to access your audience.

Moving to Email was the solution. 

It was the fastest way I knew how to take control of my future and own my audience.

I would be able to get my message in front of them regularly without fear of being shut down, shadow banned, or locked out of my account.

I knew the opportunity was big, but I didn’t realize how big until I started building my first million dollar newsletter.
